Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a growing movement that has been around for more than a quarter century. Through CSA, organic farmers sell fruits, vegetables and flowers directly to consumers (members), forming a unique partnership with them.
Members help support small, regional farms by paying in advance for fresh, organic produce delivered weekly or biweekly throughout the year.
The Urban Farmers CSA model is designed to address the needs of the environment and the following participants:
Co-Producers are home owners with a garden in their backyard. They will receive their fruits and vegetables at no cost, grown only feet away from their table.
Members are neighbors and local residents who do not have a garden in their backyard. They receive a variety of fresh, delicious, organic food that is locally grown. The produce is delivered using a minimum amount of fuel and packaging at competitive prices. Your membership dues help pay our growers.
Growers are the local farmers who grow your food. They are hard-working, knowledgeable people who grow your food and in turn receive decent wages and benefits.
Environmentally sustainable agriculture is nature’s way of growing food. It’s a high-care, low-energy-input method that is friendly to people and the environment.
