Description

You can buy Bosc Pear at the super market, the same way you can buy cardboard-hard tomatoes at the supermarket.

The Bosc, dating back to 1807 is considered one of the favorite all time pears, loved by many backyard gardeners. The fruit has a long and narrow shape with brown skin.

Tender, aromatic, spicy-sweet flesh inside green/yellow skin overlaid with cinnamon-brown russet. Excellent for baking, fresh eating and drying. Keeps for 6 months in refrigerator, but ripens best at room temperature. Distinctive flavor at its peak when pears are a golden russet-bronze.
The large tree has an upright growth habit. Very productive and reliable. Bosc does require a pollinator which could be a Bartlett
